Team and Leader Interactions

A colleague here in Alabama passed along this link on team leadership:

http://www.bnet.com/blog/harvard/introvert-or-extravert-who-should-lead-your-team/8660?promo=713&tag=nl.e713 (follow the link Gino tells HBS Working Knowledge to get more details on the research).

On the positive side, the article suggests that there is a place for leaders who prefer Extraversion and leaders who prefer Introversion. On the downside, in the pizza chain study, the measurement of Extraversion and Introversion didn’t make use of an assessment like the MBTI® tool and in the t-shirt folding study what was assessed was people’s behavior after reading a passage about what made for great leadership that either suggested behaviors consistent with Extraversion or Introversion  (at least as this study defined them) rather than observing people’s natural style.

What books, articles, DVDs etc., have you seen recently that discuss preferences or type? Did they seem helpful or were you troubled by the content?
